1959 AMC Rambler

View Description

This is one ride you can drive and are not likely to run into another one. This specific wagon underwent a nut-and-bolt restoration just 2000 miles ago. The 2000 miles gave plenty of time to work out the bugs because this is no average wagon. Under the hood is a 5. 3L LS1 truck engine and a 4L60E automatic transmission. The LS1 came out of a donor truck and is stock with 22,000 miles, 20,000 at the time of installation. The powerful V8 offers Sanderson ceramic coated headers. The front end is comprised of a Mustang II with front disc brakes, tubular A-arms, dropped spindles, QA1 coil overs, front sway bar and powder coated 4 bar rear suspension. The rear end is an 8' Ford with 3. 40 gears. The exhaust is comprised of 2 1/2' stainless with stainless FlowMaster mufflers. Other options include: AC, AM/FM Radio, CD Player, Cruise Control, Power Steering, Power Seat, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Spare Tire, Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. 1959 AMC Rambler

View Description

The strategy of American Motors President, George W. Romney, was to avoid a head-to-head battle with the domestic Big Three automakers (General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler) by focusing AMC on cars that were smaller than the 'standard' models in the marketplace. The 'legacy' large-sized Nash and Hudson models were suffering from dwindling sales in a marketplace where consumers were only offered large-sized sedans and small economy cars. The new Rambler was designed 'to split the market wide open with a mid-size model that featured aggressive styling and plenty of power.

The 1959 model year Rambler Rebels featured hoods without ornaments, a new full-width grille with large inset turn signal lamps, bumpers and bumper guards that reduced overall length by 1. 6 inches (41 mm), a thinner roof panel look with narrower C-pillars, windshield and rear window slanted at a greater angle reducing wind resistance, simpler bodyside trim, and restyled rear doors and fenders with a smooth line to the smaller tailfins. Car Life magazine called the 1959 Rambler 'one of the most attractive cars on the road.

1959 AMC Rambler

View Description

The AMC Rambler was a compact car built by AMC from 1958 to 1969. It was a shot in the dark and possibly reviving Nash motors but 3as unsuccessful. It did however become the least expensive car in America and won some economy run similar to like a gumball rally. The Ramblers were introduced to the public as the affordable 2nd car that the wife could drive and not feel like she was driving a second-best car. With all if the chrome trim and round shape the car looked to be more expensive than it was and with narrow 55-inch track it looked a lot wider due to the body lines. It was only available in a 2-door sedan since AMC already had the other segments covered and did not want the economical American to take away from the more profitable models. It was also available only with the 195. 6 flathead engine which was a reliable as they come and very efficient getting over 30 MPG with optional Od trans. This black beauty has been gone thru and looks extremely slick with the black paint showing exceptionally well. The huge whitewalls...
