The Second Generation Corvette Stingray is a sports car that was produced by Chevrolet for the 1963 to 1967 model years. The 1963 Stingray production car's lineage can be traced to two separate GM projects: the Q-Corvette, and perhaps more directly, Mitchell's racing Stingray. This sporty little Classic 63 Corvette has a very nice 327 CID V8 that is linked to a smooth shifting 4 speed manual transmission. All 1963 cars had 327cid engines, which made 250 hp (186 kW) standard, with optional variants that made 300 hp (224 kW), 340 hp (254 kW) and 360 hp (268 kW). In 1962 Duntov and the boys at GM started a project known as 'The Lightweight', to prove that the Stingray platform could not only meet but beat the competition not only from Europe but from the vehicle that GM originally had first dibs at providing the power plant for, the AC Cobra.
