1964 Buick Skylark

View Description

First introduced as a trim package in the 1950s, the Skylark garnered enough popularity to finally become its own nameplate in 1964. This stunning example has been in the care of its current owner for nearly 41 years, and benefits from upgrades, including a new paint job and interior! This is a numbers matching car, with power coming from the 300CID Buick 310 V8, matched to the Super-Turbine 300 (Buicks name for the Turbo-Hydramatic 300) automatic transmission. The odometer reads 84,052 and although not documented, it is believed to be original mileage. This Skylark is equipped with working factory air conditioning, power steering and brakes, white wall tires, Delco AM radio, power convertible top, and Buick wheel covers. Put the top down, get out your favorite sunglasses, cruise your...

1964 Buick Skylark

View Description

Until 1964, the Skylark was actually a luxury trim model for other Buick automobiles such as the Roadmaster and the Special but it was now prepared to venture on its own in the Buick lineup. This '64 convertible was based on GM's A Body platform, shared with the Chevelle/Tempest/F85 in the GM lineup. This Buick literally looks like a beautiful day with a 'Wedgewood Blue' paintjob and a Cream power-operated convertible roof. The chrome side moldings, wire wheels and stylish rear fascia make for some serious curb appeal. Pop the hood and you'll be impressed with what's on offer there too; Buick went with a 300 CID V8 with a cast iron block and aluminum heads for its base V8 choice in 1964 and this example has been upgraded with a 4bbl carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, MSD electronic ignition and dressed up with Offenhauser valve covers and aftermarket air cleaner. According to the seller of this vehicle, the transmission has been changed to a 4-speed automatic (TH-200-4R) with overdrive which should help this drop-top cruiser with mileage at highway speeds. The mid-60's interior is something to ooze over in a lot of cars from this era and this Buick gets it...

1964 Buick Skylark

View Description

With a healthy 350 cubic inch V8 and a robust turbo-400 transmission, this Buick is ready to cruise. If you feel the need for more speed, all the hard work has been done to get this baby ready for a big block including boxed control arms, a differential girdle, and that beefy TH-400 3-speed auto. The powerful rumble of this small block will be sure to keep you more than satisfied, however. The suspension is tight and responsive, which is unusual for a car of this era, and the steering is responsive and gives great feedback.

The interior of this car started life as your average vinyl material in a pretty -plain-Jane- set up, but has had some custom touches to bring this classic into a modern era. A set of modern bucket seats were fitted with crushed-velvet cloth making for a much lower risk of sitting in a smoldering seat after leaving a car show in the sun all day. What about your hands? Well, luckily, the steering wheel has received the same treatment of being wrapped in a crushed velvet material making for...
