1965 marked the first full production year for the revolutionary Ford Mustang. With its long hood and short rear deck it was in a class all its own. With the Iconic prancing Mustang badge on the car it only seemed fitting to call this class -Pony Cars-. This particular 65 Mustang has come a long way since its days as a Uni-body car. The builder decided he wanted to build a Mustang the way it should have been to begin with. A full framed, lower stance, and chopped down just a little, so that-s what he did. He began with a shell of a 65 and pulled the front section completely out. He then tied in a set of frame rails from the front to the existing rails in the back essentially making it a full framed car. From there he had to something with the stance of the car. He felt it looked to tall and stubby. Instead of just chopping the actual pillar he took the whole dash and pillar out. He then moved them down a full inch and half giving the exterior of the car a much sleeker body line. Not to mention when you sit in...

Originally this vehicle was from Arizona, where it spent most of its life, and how it managed to stay rust-free. Powered by the original 225hp 289 CID V8 engine and shifted by the original 4-speed toploader transmission, this beautiful blue pony is a blast to drive. The years of storage unfortunately took a toll on the cosmetics of this car, but the current owner saw it fit to fully freshen it up to its former glory. Just using any parts wouldn-t do, however. The builder systematically hunted down any and all new old stock parts available to keep the Mustang as correct as possible. The entire original 289 engine was gone through with replacements only installed where needed to maintain as much originality as possible. The rest of the driveline received the same treatment, making this Mustang as good as new.

With all of that work put into the heart of the beast, the suspension couldn-t be ignored. Once again, the builder went to Fords NOS parts bin and raided everything needed to bring the suspension back to its former glory. This GT came out of the Metuchen, NJ plant on June 29th, 1965 as a 'Customer Order' Vintage Burgundy GT Fastback. This is documented by the buck tag that is on the opposite (passenger) side from the stamped VIN number. Metuchen is the only plant that placed buck tags on the Mustangs produced in 1965 and the buck tag has the 'Pl' code for Performance Image that signifies a Factory GT optioned Mustang. The buck tag also has the C/0 (looks like a % symbol) on the upper left side of the tag which signifies 'Customer Order-, which means a special order Mustang built with the customer requested options. Buck Tag Data: This is a numbers matching, date correct Mustang with all of the GT options to include; quick ratio steering, larger diameter sway bar, upgraded suspension, single 'cone style' master cylinder, front disc brakes with 4 piston calipers, dual exhaust with mounting brackets through the rear floor pan, GT fog lamps with punched holes for the wiring harness, correct fog lamp switch that turns on the fog lamps and rear running lights, and trumpet exhaust.
