1968 AMC AMX

View Description

The AMX was American Motor Company's answer to the Pony Car. This 1968 AMX is in another league. The Sublime Green PPG paint looks amazing, showing very well and setting the mood of this vehicle from the first time you lay eyes on it. The black leather interior is amazing and looks like it is brand new. The car underwent a complete restoration just 8,000 miles ago and the odometer only shows 55,902. The current owner is the second owner and this car is just waiting for it's third owner to take it to it's new home. This rotisserie restoration took the better part of two years to finish and the attention to detail was meticulous. Under the hood is a monster 390 CI V8 mated to an automatic transmission. The Posi-trac rear end with 3. 73 gears help get all that power to the ground. This AMX...

1968 AMC AMX

View Description

In 1968, a company previously unknown for high performance suddenly unveiled a model with enough appeal that two enthusiast groups embraced it: muscle car folks and sports-car people. Inspired by the 1966 American Motors Experimental concept car, the 1968 AMC AMX featured a big-cube V-8 for go but had a wheelbase one-inch shorter than a Corvette's and just two-seats -- a combination that begged for twisty roads. This gorgeous AMC is painted in a Standox Red with Red vinyl interior. With only three owners in its life and 16,771 miles on the odometer, this AMC is aching for its new owner to take it to the streets! Equipped with power steering and power brakes there...

1968 AMC AMX

View Description

More pictures and video coming soon. The AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation from 1968 to 1970. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car but differed from other American cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The name AMX is actually an acronym for American Motors eXperimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties. The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird, and rivaled the only other two-seat American muscle car: the Chevrolet Corvette. With a short three-year production run, the AMX was discontinued in 1970, and was replaced by the Javelin from '71-'74. This classic AMX makes quite the statement with its bright white paint covering the cool and vintage bodylines and the black racing stripes that continue the muscle car look. Under the hood of this beautiful car is the date code correct 390 V8 that has been meticulously maintained and produces a loud rumble that will turn some heads every time the pedal hits the floor. The transmission is a 3-speed automatic that shifts smooth throughout all gears. This AMX has...

1968 AMC AMX

View Description

In 1968 AMC would introduce the first all steel American Built two seater since Ford's 55-57 T-bird. Considered by many to be more of a competitor to the Corvette for substantially less money, the AMX set a number of records. Two specially prepared AMX's set a total of 106 world speed & endurance records in January 1968. Driven at Goodyear's track in Texas by Craig Breedlove, his wife Lee Breedlove and Ron Dykes. This Little AMX is a great example of what they came like considering it has not been touched. What you see is a true survivor that has been driven and maintained. Originally bought new in Louisville KY for the wife of the owner of an AMX dealership. The car has just about every option in 68 including AC and ofcourse the highly sought after ' Go Package''. Yes that-s right this a completely authentic, beleived to be 3 owner, Go Pac car with factory AC. Under the hood the original 390 putting out 315 ponies with an asphalt pounding, tire shredding, lay down the nastiest burnout 425lb-ft it's no wonder they made such a limited number of them. With only 2287 automatics built that year and very few...
