1970 AMC Javelin

View Description

One owner has had the car for the last 37 years and is 1 of 2,701 made.

We're all here for muscle cars and we all remember the Javelins! They don't come around here often, and never stay long. They are fantastic looking cars and this one has some fun history to go along with it. The engine and transmission are not original (out of a 1974. ) The engine is a 360 V8 rebuilt in 2007, and the 3-speed automatic 727 transmission rebuilt in 2008 and both function fantastically. The engine has the sound and exhaust feel of a well-built high compression motor, and the slight smell of race fuel. The rear end is geared wisely with 3. 15 posi-traction. There is a lengthy list of items restored or replaced and we will name a few; gas tank, radiator, stainless fuel, brake, and vacuum lines, and RARE stainless window trim. 2 build sheets are...

1970 AMC Javelin

View Description

This 1970 AMC Javelin SST Mark Donohue is believed to be a tribute but the owner claims this car was raced in the early stages of its life. Supposedly starting out as a 304 ci powered Javelin, it has since been turned into what it is today. The 360ci V8, automatic transmission and front power disc brakes give this Javelin the feel of serious sports cars! This high compression 4 Barrel 360 V8 is believed to put down around 290hp, and the owner believes that it contains a racing cam, and Edelbrock Carb and a Posi rear end as well. Additionally, the story of the Mark Donohue Javelin is fascinating, making this example an interesting buy. AMC needed to take action in the late '60s. The Ford Mustang was the popular boy at school, and American Motors needed a car that could do more than just fit in. Designs were drafted and the production result was the stylishly simple Javelin. It went Trans-Am racing in 1968, began to find its groove over the next years, and with the help of Roger Penske and racer Mark Donohue, became a championship winning car. Donohue, one of the most brilliant race drivers of the...

1970 AMC Javelin

View Description

As if the 1970 Javelin isn-t rare enough (19,714 total production) but to find one optioned as a 390 CID SST (2,730 made) and one in Frost White over Matador Red mean there were 80 of these ever available. This is one of those AND has been in the same family since special ordered by Dad in 1970! Rare indeed. Perfectly named, Javelin; (noun jav-e-lin jav-len : a light spear primarily to be thrown, used for piercing. ) This will do exactly that although it will be you being thrown back in the seat as you punch the accelerator piercing the air in this 1970 AMC Javelin SST 390 Go-Pack. AMC was a serious contender in the muscle car market with the 1970 Javelin. The one year only design featured new front end design with wide -twin-venturi- front grille incorporating the headlamps, a longer hood and new rear end with full width tail lamps. The new styling came with a completely new front suspension and when you ordered the --Go Package- you got front disk brakes, duel exhaust, heavy duty front suspension with anti-sway bar, improved cooling, 3. 54 rear axle ratio and wide Goodyear white lettered performance tires on styled...
