AMC hit the pony car market head on with the all-new Javelin. Produced from 1968-1974 AMC was looking to steal some of the market share from the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. The Javelin was offered in a range f trims and engine options. Spanning from an economical 238 six cylinder to a full-blown 401 V-8 muscle car. In 1971 the second-generation Javelin was completely redesigned. The car was designed to be lower, wider, longer, and heavier than its predecessor.
