In 1967 Chevrolet made a major overhaul to the Corvette brand when they unveiled the all new C3 Corvette. The Mako Shark II design for the car was conceived by Larry Shinoda. The C3 Corvette was produced all the way until 1982. For those 15 years Chevrolet would make many changes, many of which were suggestions from their customer base. This nice example is from later in the C3 era, 1977. That year there were alterations to the steering wheel column and wrap to the radio and sun visors. This '77 is colored in Light Blue and is in nice condition. Inside is white leather to keep you cool and comfortable. Under the hood is what vettes are known for, the 5. 7L V8 and mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. Current owner bought it from the original owner in TN and has had the car for over 13 years! The Nassau Blue paint on this '77 model really stands out and is not as commonly seen, believed to be repainted 12 years ago. The black vinyl interior goes well with the exterior tone and is in good order, as it should since it was installed in 2015. Under the hood, per the owner is the original 350ci V8 with power at your fingertips through a 4-speed manual gearbox that shifts very smooth. You don't see manual transmissions in this very often! Current owner has had her for over 8 years, acquired from a relative and is believed to be a 4-owner car. This isn't your typical Corvette though, this one has been treated to a twin turbo kit from Gale Banks Engineering. Originally this L-82 Corvette produced only 210 horsepower. Now thanks to Gale Banks Engineering, it is now producing 520 horsepower! According to Banks, this will propel the Corvette down the quarter mile in under 12 seconds at 125 mph. Aside from the alcohol cooled twin turbos, the engine also received mild porting to the heads and polished combustion chambers, roller rockers, high flow fuel pump, HEI ignition, a modified Edelbrock Torker intake manifold with a modified Holley 800 double pumper, hand built exhaust manifolds and Banks forged 110-inch reverse deflector, 8. 5:1 pistons. Clearly this was not an easy bolt on application. Banks also used their own turbo grind Hydraulic camshaft for excellent throttle response with mid-range/top end power.
