1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V

View Description

The 1979 Mark V was the last personal luxury car built on a full-size platform. The Collector Series was distinguished from all other examples of the Mark V by its lack of opera windows, and was produced in four colors Midnight Blue Moondust Metallic, White, Diamond Blue Moondust Metallic (shared with the Diamond Jubilee Edition), and Light Silver Moondust Metallic.

These Lincolns are well known for being great cruisers and were loaded with many high-end luxury features for their time. The Collector series cars were feature-laden when it came to luxury options, as they came with every available feature as standard equipment. Only four options were available for the Collector Series: a power moonroof, 40-channel CB radio, 'Sure-Track' anti-lock brakes, and a plush Kashmir velour interior (in lieu of leather).

This Mark V is powered by a solid 400 CID V8 which is backed by smooth shifting 3-speed automatic transmission, making it the choice for those long cruises. A nearly new set of P235/75R15 Hankook Optimo radials provide a comfortable ride and have plenty of life left in them.

The Midnight Blue Moondust Metallic paint is in great condition and shines like a sapphire in the sun. Inside, you'll find that...

1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V

View Description

An elegant beauty that was so tastefully designed, that it has become an icon in the automotive world. Lincoln was born in 1917 as Fords luxury brand competing directly with Cadillac for market share in the personal luxury car segment. In 1959 the Continental was integrated into the Lincoln line up with the Continental Mark series beginning production in 1968. The 'Mark' was marketed as a two-door model only in response to the rival Cadillac Eldorado. Among the Continentals, there were designer series versions, but the best appearance package was the Bill Blass version. This shows as a great example of how a highly packaged Lincoln set the tone for true luxury. Lincoln debuted the new 460 cubic inch V-8 along with the first Ford vehicle to be produced with anti-lock brakes in the 1968 Mark III.

Our 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Bill Blass is a fine example of what has become one of Fords most successful line ups. At over 19 feet long, the Mark V is among one of the largest coupes ever produced. The Continental Mark V became the most successful Car in the Mark series with 228,000 units sold in its three -year run. This bright...
