The brougham was a series that the Cadillac company began selling back in the early 20s. The name means horse drawn enclosed carriage for 2-4 people. Cadillac says they got the name brougham from Henry Brougham a British statesman. The name eventually went away but in 1955 it would reappear on the 55 eldorado. IN 57 the name would also be applied to the series 70 and 75 but would be taken away. Until 1965 when it became an option on the 60 special. In 1971 the only way to get the name was on the 60 special fully loaded Fleetwood 60 special brougham. Not until 1987 would the brougham finally get its recognition and become its own designated vehicle.
