Corvette owners are some of the proudest enthusiast around, and to the owner every car is special. This car actually IS special and has the story and documentation to go with!
The LT5 powerplant outsourced to Mercury Marine by General Motors shell-shocked the world when it was released. American muscle stood proud with some serious bang for your bucks and performance number to make everyone think twice. On a test track a group of drivers broke the 24-hour endurance record by 15mph, and two years later the ZR1 took first and second in the 23-hour World Challenge race in Canada. As with any performance engine there were gremlins and critics - many of which came down to uneducated technicians or owners.
Looking under the engine bay of this example you'll notice a lot brighter engine than most ZR1s. Not only has the top end been polished to a fine shine, but the car was tuned/optimized for todays fuels. Haibeck Automotive Technology are some of the most known LT5 specialists and can do everything from basic maintenance to performance enhancement. This...

While Corvettes have always been regarded as the flagship performance car in Chevys lineup, the ZR1 came as an above and beyond edition being one of the best alongside the Grand Sport in terms of collectability and production numbers. Chevrolet decided to step it up when they made the ZR1 by featuring a Mercury Marine built 5. 7-liter LT5 V8 under the hood which featured a 4 overhead camshaft courtesy of joint design between Chevrolet and Lotus and produced 375 horsepower through the ZF 6-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain was found to be worthy of competing in and winning a 24 hour endurance race and winning averaging 175 miles per hour while doing so. The suspension was a complete redesign over the C4 body style setup done by Lotus making for a tight handling experience which included the chassis being 4 inches wider in the rear to accommodate the colossal 315mm wide tires. This suspension redesign along with the upgraded powertrain makes for a Corvette that truly feels ready for the track. The bright red beauty is loaded with features like air conditioning, traction control, cruise control, power leather seats,...

After barely surviving the 80's with overweight and underpowered cars Chevrolet was looking for a breath of fresh air in there supercar lineup and oh boy did they find it. It all started back in 86 when GM acquired Group Lotus and decided they wanted to build the fastest production car and it was to be based on the C4 vetted. What they came up with was a revolutionary, high powered, all aluminum, twin cam, V8 dubbed the LT5. With a standard cost 31k the c4 Corvette was a great buy but when you added the 31k ZR1 option plus whatever the dealer was tacking on everyone could see that this was going to be a very limited production vehicle. They were right with only 6500 being built in its 6 year run. This particular one has extremely low miles showing a little over 13k. It does have all the paperwork you could want including the original window sticker as well as the infamous 'pizza box'. The paint is in excellent condition with no sign of wear or even normal driving chips in the bumper. The red interior...

This was the top of the line performance car from Chevrolet in 1991 and still is a great performance muscle car today! A blast to drive around town or the track.
In 1986, GM acquired Group Lotus. They went after the title of world's fastest production car based on the C4 Corvette. With input from GM, Lotus designed a new engine to fit in the ZR1. The result was what GM dubbed the LT5. A 5. 7L V8 engine putting out 375hp. This engine, with only 22k miles, mated to a unique 6-speed manual transmission. In addition to the engine, Lotus also helped design the upgraded braking and steering systems used in the ZR1. The ZR1, being 200 lbs. heavier than a stock C4, needed better braking and handling. In 1990, the 1991 ZR-1 and 1991 base model received updates to bodywork, interior, and wheels. The rear convex fascia that set the 1990 ZR-1 apart from the base model found its way to all 1991 models, making the high-priced ZR-1 even less distinguishable. Further changes were made the following year in 1991, including extra ZR-1 badges on the fenders and the introduction of (ASR) or traction control. This particular 1991 example...
