The 94 to 96 Impala SS was an instant success for GM. In the early 90-s if you wanted a 4 door spots car you really did not have an American option. Noticing the trend and with the introduction of the LT1 engine in 1993 the brass at GM saw a huge opportunity. The Caprice, famous for being the 90-s cop car, already had the upgraded components for the performance end. A new loaded interior was all they really needed to make a great performing luxury sedan.
