Ford and Shelby have a long history of churning out performance Machines. The GT500 name had not been used on a Mustang since 1969.
The GT500 model was announced at the 2005 New York Auto Show and deliveries began in 2006. Under the hood is a supercharged and intercooled 5. 4L V8 or 330 cubic inches. With the extra nudge from the supercharger this is rated at 500HP stock. Putting power to the rear wheels with the help of the upgrade Tokico shocks and springs is a Tremec 6 speed transmission. The rear gears were upgraded to Ford Racing 3. 73 and the setup is the perfect balance of interstate cruising or fast driving. There are quite a few tasteful modifications that are primarily Ford Racing based. The air box and exhaust system has been upgraded to Ford Racing, the supercharger granted a longer pulley, and a Shelby short throw shifter. The sway bars were upgrades to Steda top and bottom.
