These German personal luxury cars were adapted for the US market and sold very well stateside. The '380' in the model name also denotes the engine size in the vehicle, namely a 3. 8l V8 engine with just 48,000 miles on the car since new. All Mercedes' from this era had standard fuel injection, which was ahead of many American manufacturers who were still phasing out carburetors. Something worth noting is that the owner of this car replaced the faulty single timing chain with a double timing chain. A 4-speed automatic transmission shifts as smoothly as you'd expect on a Mercedes classic. This 380SL is painted in a bright Red color with a matching Red removable hardtop and a Black manually operated soft top that can be raised with the removal of the hardtop.
