The first-generation Dodge Dakota convertible came into being in 1986. A mid-sized pickup truck created using a variety of components from existing Chrysler vehicles, a no non-sense workhorse. The idea for such a vehicle was allegedly inspired by the Southern California surf scene. The convertible Dakota was introduced for the 1989 model year.
