This 1973 Series III is finished in a beautiful shade of gray that presents very well along with a tidy black interior. Whether you are traversing mountain terrain of the Rockies, muddy plains, or the sand dunes of the Sahara, this Rover will get you there. Imported from Costa Rica, this Series III features a robust 4-Cylinder Turbo diesel engine mated to a strong 4-speed manual transmission. 1976 Land Rover Series III

View Description

Though inspired by the World War II jeep, the Land Rover immediately distinguished itself from all other cars. From launch, it was the first mass-produced civilian four-wheel drive car with doors on it, and an available hard roof. Contrary to conventional car and truck chassis, it used a sturdier fully box-welded frame. Furthermore, due to post-war steel shortage, and aluminum surplus, Land Rovers received non-rusting aluminum alloy bodies, favoring their longevity. The Series III is the most common series vehicle, with 440,000 of the type built from 1971 to 1985. This 1976 example comes to us from overseas, having lived its previous life rolling through the dunes and high plains of the Namibian desert as a luxury lodge safari vehicle. With no exposure to rain or salt, you don't have to worry about any structural rust, weakness, or wear. This vehicle has only had 2 owners since 1976 before the current owner brought the vehicle to the states. Prior to importation, the vehicle was restored by mechanics from the Land Rover Owners of Namibia Club. This included a new two-tone paint job, upgraded auxiliary fuel pump, freshly reupholstered dashboard, main bench, rear bench seats, a new starter, carburetor, ignition and starter...
