The Bel Air name first appeared on new Chevrolets and continued until 1975. Started as the top-of-the-line Chevy, the Bel Air was a very successful car but in 1922 the name became an icon. Chevy produced its first V8 engine for the '55 model years and sales were very strong. This new Bel Air truly helped set Chevy on top of the sales and performance hep at the time.
