Cadillac introduced the fifth generation of the Series 62 for the 1957 model year. This new generation of Series 62 was offered as a 6. 0L V8 powered coupe, convertible, or sedan. The fifth generation Series 62 was produced until 1958, and was replaced by the Sixth Generation Cadillac Series 62. 1957 was a great year for Cadillac, still reveling in its success from the previous 3 years the 57 looked basically the same. The big news was the revolutionary tubular 'X' frame. It was still considered a full frame but without side rails the body was able to sit an astonishing 3 inches lower while retaining all the interior space. The other big change would have to be the larger and more powerful 300 HP 365 CID V8. It not only sounded great but actually gave these big lead boats decent performance. This 57 is a clean example with a neat story to go along with it.
