Folks you won't see one of these very often. In the United States in the late 70s the Mercedes that was released was the 450SL. This particular Benz is a 280SL that is known as the European Version. The 280SL had noticeable differences from the 450SL, both mechanically and aesthetically. The 280SL had a much more fuel-efficient engine and didn't have the big bumpers so it provided a much cleaner and elegant look. Here is a 79 model, an R107 designation that also has a beautiful color. The Zephyr Blue Metallic paint is in good shape, as it should be for being repainted in 2019. The Blue Vinyl/Cloth interior is also in good condition. This 280SL has both tops, the hard-shell and soft top. Under the hood is a 2. 8L Inline-6 engine mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The E31 Series 840CI debuted in Frankfurt Auto Show in 1989. It was one of the first BMW's to utilize the CAD design and wind tunnel testing to achieve a Drag Coefficient of. 29.
