1971 marked the beginning of the now famous and highly sought after R107 chassis 2-seat convertible roadster. This line of the model started as 350SL coupes in 1971 with a 3. 5L V8, but in 1972 they upgraded to the much more powerful and reliable 4. 5L V8 but this is where this cars rarity comes into play, only for 72- was the car denoted as a 350SL but was outfitted with the larger 4. 5L V8. In 1973 they shifted the name to 450SL to fall in line with the engine liter size, just as they do today in their new cars. Since it was a new model to the brand at the time the production numbers weren-t that high thus adding to these early models appreciation value. There are not many on the market for sale in this condition as many suffer from rust issues.

Based on the Mercedes-Benz W124 platform, the R129 was produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1989 through 2002 to be a roadster, which is an open two-seat car with an emphasis on sporting appearance or character. The SL name has always signified a certain level of quality and sophistication and the R107 model would be no exception. Introduced in 1972 year as a replacement for the W113 series, the 107 would make an unprecedented model run all the way through --89. For me, these cars bring back very fond memories of my grandfather teaching me to drive around the neighborhood in his 380SL when I was a child, which speaks volumes for the ease at which these cars can be piloted.

The 280C was a 2 door coupe variant of the W114 chassis sedans. The coupe variants featured styling which was sleek yet understated at the same time. This example was of the first year of the slightly restyled body with a lower hood line and broader grill than before. While the W114 chassis dates back to 1968 the design was kept fresh with the removal of quarter windows in the front door and Mercedes soon to be signature ribbed (for your safety) tail lights. The W114 chassis, much like all Mercedes-Benz models from this era, is an extremely durable and reliable car.
