Entering the full-size sport truck marketplace in 1993, the SVT F150 Lightning brought a more balanced approach to high-performance pickups. Instead of focusing only on straight-line acceleration, Lightning added sporty handling and towing functionality to the mix, allowing it to lap a race course as fast or faster than a Mustang GT of the same vintage, or to tow up to 8,400 pounds. You just don-t see Ford Shortbeds F150-s as much as you see that other brand. Probably because once a person buys one they hold on it for as long as they can. Such is the case here, this F150 has been in the same family since it was purchased in May of 1977. The truck was inherited by the son and he has decided it is time for it to move on. The dark blue paint on this 4x4 looks great and the radial spoke American Racing wheels really set off the overall look. The F150 has been treated to a repaint by Morris Body & Paint of Powder Springs Ga. The carburetor on the 400 M V8 has been rebuilt, power steering hoses have been replaced and the front calipers for the bakes have been replaced. The 400 V8 is mated to a manual 4-speed with a granny low gear, it has plenty of grunt to get this beast out sticky situations....
