1976 was a stellar year for sales of the ageing C3. Even with the convertible axed from the line up GM still managed to sale almost 50000 corvettes that year, the most since 1969. The biggest change in 76 was new modified hood which redirected air closer to the front of the car solving that annoying howl the earlier C3's had.
