Introduced in the mid 1974, the 'Elite' which was based on the Ford Torino but essentially was a Mercury Cougar XR-7 with some restyling. Ford introduced the 'Elite' to compete with Chevrolet's Monte Carlo and the Chrysler Cordoba and advertised the car as a more affordable luxury car than the Thunderbird. This 1974 Ford Gran Torino Elite is powered by its original, rebuilt 351 CID Cleveland V8 Engine and is backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission.
