In 2000 Ford suffered a slight set back to their flagship Mustang known as the Cobra SVT Cobra. Ford replaced the intake manifold and computer components as well as the entire exhaust from the catalytic to the tailpipes in order to achieve a 'true' 320 hp at the crankshaft. Because of this blunder, the 320 hp 2000 Cobra SVT Cobra was pulled from production to return in 2001 again rated at 320 hp. This Performance Red Cobra SVT Cobra has come a long way since that original 320 hp. Approximately 1 year after its purchase, the owner decided it needed just a little more. This desire for more horsepower lead to a few discussions with Kenny Brown Performance for a few upgrades. The decision was made to upgrade this snake to a Cobra S by Kenny Brown. Most notable in this conversion, is the addition of a Vortech Supercharger to the 4. 6 4 valve V-8, allowing the car to produce 420 hp. Along with the additional hp, Kenny Brown-s Extreme Subframe System is added for improved handling. In early 2002 the 03 model year Cobra was introduced and was one of the highest performing pony cars available. With no competition available from Dodge or Chevy the new Cobra SVT Cobra was in a league of its own and was dubbed the -Terminator- by lead developer John Coletti. Going from the previous model years 320hp up to a staggering 390hp, quite a few changes had to be made to the engine and drive train to handle this massive power increase. Starting at the top of the motor the 4. 6l block was changed from aluminum to cast iron to handle the added stress of the Eaton M112 super charger. The internals were modified as well including forged pistons and H beam connecting rods that could handle the 8psi of boost. At the rear of the engine Ford fitted this beast with an aluminum flywheel and mated it to a Tremec T56 6 speed transmission that feeds into a 3. 55:1 rear end. One owner and only 21,367 actual miles on this legendary Mustang Cobra! There were just under 2,000 of these cars ever made and the 03-04 years had massive changes that really set these cars apart from previous years. Nicknamed -The Terminator- Cobra by the Cobra SVT team at Ford, these cars were absolute power houses producing upwards of 400HP right from the factory. Ford dropped the solid axle rear suspension in this car and went with a much more capable independent rear. By doing this it made it easy to spot a terminator as it was pulling away from you with the exhaust nearly meeting in the center of the car and then exiting out the slots on either side of the bumper.
