In 1955 GM made the first full re design of their trucks since 1947. These new series pickups that replaced the thousand series trucks, boasted some very advanced design upgrades. The most notable of these upgrades was the bigger, roomier cabs and wider beds. This 4x4 GMC was fully Frame Off restored in 2012 with a powerful crate 350 Chevy motor and backed up by a 5 speed manual transmission that will soar this thing to highway speeds and cruise highway speeds no problem. This GMC sports a rugged engine. It is a 351 CID V6. As the owner explains it is essentially a 409 V8 with 2 less cylinder heads. The 351E V6 which was available from 1966 to 1968 in 1/2 to 1 ton trucks is essentially a Magnum engine, as it has the big port heads and bigger manifolds. If you ever run into some old magazine ads from 1966 it mentions the 351 Magnum engine available as a high performance option. The 351's were available both as Magnums and small port head 351C engines up to 1972. Professionally rebuilt, this original V6 has less than 500 miles on it. The Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission has also been rebuilt. The truck has many new parts including exhaust, alternator, battery, driveshaft, brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines, power steering, door seals, gas lines and a new gas tank. The carburetor has also been rebuilt with new hoses and belts. Mechanically speaking, this truck needs nothing and is ready to work or cruise the local car scene. Only 1,000 miles on a complete custom build, this GMC Jimmy has plenty to offer! Let-s start by addressing the elephant in the room, yes that is a massive blower sticking out of the hood! Sitting just underneath the Dyers 671 blower is a 350 cubic inch small block Chevrolet with a mild build still running on pump gas, and on top, a pair of Demon carburetors. The dual carbs are fed by an Aeromotive fuel system to prevent any starvation no matter if it is simply cruising or laying into the throttle. This set up looks mean and nasty with a sound to match! Keeping this whole set up cool is a set of electric fans that prevent any drivability issues. On the back of the small block is a 700R4 transmission to make cruising at higher speeds a breeze and controlling the shifting from the cabin is a B&M pro bandit shifter. Finally putting that power to the massive rear tires is a 9- Ford rear end with 4. 11 gears connected to a triangulated 4-link suspension. From the factory, the 3/4 ton frame trucks were only given the option of a lethargic 350 CID small block Chevy V8. While that was good for putting around town, it hardly did any favors when it came to off-roading or towing a heavy load. To resolve this, a 402 cubic inch big block V8 was installed with the appropriate TH400 automatic transmission was put in its place to give this truck the power it deserved from the factory. A heavy-duty 4X4 system with locking front hubs is equipped as well, to make sure that the weather is never an excuse to stay in.
