This is the one! For sale in the Fort Lauderdale showroom is this extremely rare TV series, 1976 Ford Gran Torino. Not only is this remarkable Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino one of the 1,000 limited production editions built by Ford in the spring of 1976, of which only 300 or fewer are still known to be in existence, it was one of the two used by Spelling Goldberg Productions on the actual 1970s TV series. According to a hand written letter it was identified as Unit 129 and was used as a camera car on the TV series for the 77 through 79 seasons. Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul sat in and drove this car!

The vehicle comes with documentation verifying its use on the TV series in a letter from Buddy Loesch, who worked in the TV show-s transportation department along with a cancelled check from Spelling Goldberg Productions with the car-s description on it listing it as -Unit 129. - The studio replaced the original 351 with a 429 4 bbl. The red bubble light, police radio, siren, wigwag headlights and telephone seen on the series are still present.

The Cobra was an exciting new car and was a serious muscle car. The complete rotisserie restoration and customization was complete in May of 2012 and has only had 254 miles on it since, which means this baby isn-t even broken in yet! This monster comes standard with a 428 Cobra Jet engine that has been upgraded with Edlebrock aluminum cylinder heads and intake manifold which is equipped with a 750 CFM Holley dual feed carburetor and comp cams hydraulic roller cam, a C-6 Cruise-O-Matic transmission. The rear end is original. American Racing Special Edition rims are wrapped with BF Goodrich tires which are stopped by Wilwood brakes. The outside of this beast is painted black with a silver stripe going down the center and cobra emblems. This is a theme with this car as the interior has leather seats with cloth inserts. The headliner trunk and door panels all match the seats. It has Auto Meter Gauges, B&M Shifter, Pioneer radio with a Kicker sound system. The 1970 Torino was the primary model with the Fairlane becoming a sub-series. The big news though that year was the 429 Super Cobra Jet. Ford had been putting Thunder Jet 429-s in their T-bird lineup for a few years but 1970 would unleash these monsters in two different trims with Super Cobra Jet being the one that you really wanted. This is example has gone through a pain staking frame off restoration completed in 2015 and is probably nicer than when she left the factory. The correct grabber blue paint is amazing and is guaranteed to catch everyone-s eye. The GT package gave this Torino those awesome hideaway headlights which work. With all the trim on the car in excellent condition this truly is one of the finest examples of a Torino GT I have seen. The shaker hood is not only functional but the look you get when you drop a gear and the person sees that coming is worth the price of the car itself. This Cobra has the famous R code, Ram-Air equipped, 428 Cobra Jet engine! The rebuilt R code engine is mated to a rebuilt 3-speed automatic transmission. The Ram Air Cobra had a fully functional hood scoop. This air conditioned car has both power steering and power brakes making for a great driver. The Torino Cobra has the Cobra nameplate on the back, making for an interesting debate as to whether this was called the Ford Cobra or Ford Torino Cobra.

The Cobra came standard with a competition suspension. It also came with a blacked out grille, hood lock pins, and Cobra emblems. This car has plenty of get-up-and-go, with plenty of torque. Built for only two years with only 3,054 units sold in 1971. This Torino is a very rare example with the optional 429-4V CJ-R Cobra Jet engine that was installed in only 203 Torino GTs. To make this Ford Torino even rarer, only 123 had automatic transmissions, 20 were painted bright red, three have Vermillion vinyl bench seating, two were equated with a tach, and only ONE came with an AM/FM radio with this combination.
