The Cadillac Sixty Special name has been used by Cadillac to denote a special model since the 1938 Harley Earl-Bill Mitchell-designed Series 60 derivative. The Sixty Special name would soon be synonymous for some of Cadillac's most luxurious vehicles and was offered as a four-door sedan and briefly as a four-door hardtop only. The 62's styling remained similar to the '61, with the Sixty Special's fender louvers being moved up to the roof, directly behind the rear door opening, giving it an even more elegant look. A revised grill up front, and a new trim panel below the rear deck lid rounded out the subtle changes. Powering all 1962 Cadillac models was an overhead valve 390CID V-8 with a 10. 5:1 compression ratio, hydraulic valve lifters, five main bearings, and a Carter two-barrel carburetor.
