In 1977 Lincoln introduced the Lincoln Versailles into the midsized luxury market to compete directly with the Cadillac Seville. The Versailles was based off of the Ford Granada/Mercury Monarch and dressed it up with new front end styling, grille, quad headlights, faux space tire trunk lid, and forged aluminum wheels.
