1981 was a year of first for the Corvette. Not only was this the first year for Corvettes to be produced at two factories but it was also the first year for the now historic Bowling Green plant. The STL plant cars were only available in solid colors while the new revolutionary Bowling Green plant had the capability to paint them two tone, a rather extravagant option for a production car in 1981. With the odometer showing a mere 46235 actual miles, this beauty has lived a pampered life. The bright red metallic paint brings out the lines of the 81 nicely. Under that long hood is the classic small block Chevy that came in the car backed by the original Turbo 350 Hydramatic transmission. The El Camino has been around since the late 50-s with a cult following ever since its initial release. With its truck like bed and car like cab it is easy to see why people love these UTE-s. This 85 ELCO give you the ability to haul a little more than just the stuff in the bed. An original 305 car from the factory that engine was replaced with a much healthier 350. Starting off with a bolt main this motor was built from the bottom up. The Chevrolet X rods and unbelievably strong and with the engine balanced you can feel confident when the tach hits the redline. The flat top pistons keep the engine at a very streetable 10. 2 to 1 compression allowing you to pull right up to the pump with no need for expensive race fuel. Many will consider '70s the beginning of the end for horsepower wars. With unleaded gas becoming the standard and smog regulation's tightening, there were an increasing number of hurdles for the big three to jump through. Chevy had their engineers working on how they were going to meet the demands of Uncle Sam and still get the muscle that Corvette was known for. The 350 SBC under the hood is not the original engine but runs just as good if not better than a 73. Backed up by a TH350 Transmission that transfers the power to the rear wheels. Take out the T-tops out and you will be ready to cruise on that next spring day. The T-tops can be easily re-installed with ease, just in case the sunshine doesnt last as long as it should. The F250 was Fords workhorse of the bunch. Built for the working class and used primarily as work/fleet vehicles there are not of these 5th generation 3/4 ton trucks left. This example is a 2-owner truck with most of its life spent on a farm seeing much of its life hauling and running around that very place. With a mere 32000 miles showing on the odmeter it is bealived to be original to the truck. Bought in 2000 from that same farmer the truck needed some love but still ran great with the original 352 engine and 4-speed transmission in proper running condition. The decision was made shortly after that to bring this truck back to its original glory. Disassembled and separated from the frame with the actual cab was tossed for a new one. The hood was also exchanged for a new one ensuring any rust issues were solved. The last piece of the puzzle was the bed which wound up having to be scrapped as well with a new one taking its place.
