The 1979-1986 Capri is considered Mercury's second pony car. Built as a two-door hatchback. A limited number of convertibles were converted by an outside vendor American Specialty Cars. The Capri shared its platform, engines, and drivetrains with its sister the Mustang. But was considered to have a more aerodynamic body than the Mustang resulting in the Capri becoming a favorite on the racecar circuit.
