This would be the first American made mass produced front wheel drive automobile and what a car! Power comes from a 425 cubic inch V8 producing 385 horsepower and 475 lbs/ft of torque! That's quite an entrance for a front wheel drive car. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a TH-425 automatic transmission. This was very close the TH-400 and was found to be very durable. Something different for consumers was the flat floor being there was no need for a transmission tunnel or a hump for the driveshaft. This along with the fastback styled rear end made for a very futuristic styled car.
