The early C2 Corvette was the beginning of what most consider the golden era of America's sports car. The totally redesigned C2 Corvette was new from the ground up. It even had a catchy new name, Stingray, named after the groundbreaking concept car that Zora Duntov had introduced just a year earlier which the C2 Corvette would take many of its styling cues from. The biggest mechanical redesign was the rear end. Only because Duntov convinced GM that it would sell 30,000 cars the new Corvette would sport an independent rear suspension. This was absolutely groundbreaking in the early 60s. Affordable performance was always what the Corvette represented and this 64 is a perfect example of that. This great driver example of a second year C2 comes to us off a 2002 restoration that has held up very well and still shows great to this day.
