1941 Plymouth Pickup

View Description

The 1941 Plymouth trucks differed little from the re-designed 1939 model, and for good reason as Chrysler realized that its truck market would not last for long due to Ford and Chevrolet already having the market cornered. The 1939 Plymouth trucks had been completely revamped with a new cab and different styling giving its trucks more of a huskier look. The new design was not met with much success as the 1941 model year would be the last year that Chrysler would produce a truck until the 1970-s. Regardless, the PT-125 was a very efficient and reliable half ton truck, having a 201 cubic inch L-Head inline 6 cylinder engine which developed 85 1/2 horsepower and 160 lb. ft. of torque. Plymouth is not well known for making trucks as they only manufactured them from 1935 to 1942. The PT50s are very desirable trucks but rarely seen, especially since only near 11,000 PT50s were sold in 1937. Now nearly 80 years later these trucks are still loved, many had hard work lives, several have been converted to street rods. Finding one that is more original is an extremely rare deal, and that is what we have here. Walking around this truck just brings a smile to you face. The blue exterior paint and black vinyl interior are both in good order. Turn the key, push in the clutch, pull out the chock, pump the gas, and then hit the start pedal and the 201ci Straight-6 lumbers to life and the 3-speed manual gearbox is on the floor. This truck runs and drives and when you are behind the wheel it invokes a nostalgia you cannot replicate. The current owner has had her for around 25 years, acquired from...
