Back in 1971, when Chrysler's Plymouth division wanted to have its own version of the highly popular Dodge Dart Swinger and as a result, Plymouth created the 'Scamp', based on the Plymouth Valiant. This example is finished in the rare option of Bahama Yellow paint with the vinyl roof that helps change things up a bit and highlights the concave rear window and pillarless greenhouse very nicely. Originally a Canadian market example, this Scamp came with the 318CID V-8 mated to the A904 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission and a 8 rear end with 2. 76 gears both with a full rebuild in 2016. Work included a. 030 overbore, fitment of a slightly hotter cam, aluminum radiator, rebuilt, shaved heads with 360 exhaust valves, re-sized connecting rods with ARP bolts, hardened distributor shaft, double roller timing chain set, new fuel, oil, and water pumps, a fresh alternator and starter, ceramic coated OEM exhaust manifolds, rebuilt Rochester two-barrel carb with fresh stainless fuel lines and an electronic distributor.
