The 2nd generation of Corvette is arguably one of the most desired body styles built to this day. In 1967 only 22,940 cars were produced that year. Of that 8,504 1967 Corvette Coupes and 14,436 Convertibles were produced. Even fewer came with the 427 CID Big Block V8, this example even has the Tripower 3x2 carburetor/intake set up. This monster of an engine was factory rated at 435HP and is mated to a Muncie M-22 'Rock-crusher' 4-speed manual transmission. According to the owner of this beast, the engine was rebuilt in 2022. Walking around this '67 Stingray, one should notice the Lyndale Blue metallic gloss paint that is offset with a black center stripe down the Big Block hood. This is a very special Callaway commemorating their 25th year in business. Callaway has been tuning and tweaking Corvettes since 1987. A lot of the earlier Callaway Corvettes featured twin turbos and Speedster convertibles with low windscreens. One of the more well known Callaway Corvettes was known as the Sledgehammer. Today we are looking at their very special limited edition and numbered vehicles that were built off of a Grand Sport Corvette. Callaway received 25 Grand Sports from Chevrolet. They were all painted Cyber Gray Metallic with Ebony custom leather interior with Red stitching. This example is #15 and has 1,615 miles. Its not everyday that you run across a number's matching car and very hard to find the ones that are big blocks. Well we have a number's matching and first year for the big block Corvette! In 1965 a total of 23,564 Corvette's were made and 8,186 of them happen to be Coupes and only 2,157 of them were equipped with the big block. If you are a Corvette Collector you will want this gem in your collection. This car was of course built right here in St Louis and was first sold at a dealership out in California. We know this detail because the original window sticker and owner's manual come with the car which is another piece that you can't find most of the time. This Corvette is powered by the original 427. This 427 is optioned with option # 2L68AA, this is the upgrade for the 390 HP adding a Tripower intake manifold and carburetor for another 10 horsepower. This option cost an additional $105 on top of the 390's $200 cost. The sound of this Corvette is music to any car nut out there. Off road exhaust consisting of chambered exhaust mufflers exiting out the back. Receiving the power and sending it to the Posi-Traction 3. 08 rear is a Muncie M-21 Close ratio 4-speed transmission. Slowing things down in a hurry is accomplished by four wheel disc brakes that were standard on the Corvette. Painted in Marina Blue with matching Bright Blue vinyl interior and a white soft top. Finishing off the beautiful look is a black Stinger on the hood and a set of Redline radials mounted on stock Rally wheels.
