Up until around 1915 there were three sources for powering vehicles. Steam which was efficient quiet and powerful but very dangerous. Electricity which had the same qualities as steam but could barely go 5 miles before having to charge. Then there was the Gasoline motor. It was dirty, crude and hard to operate but a man named Henry Ford would change all of that. He liked the ever-evolving power you could get from a gasoline engine so when he decided to build the affordable car to the masses it was an easy decision to go with the gasoline motor. In 1914 his streamlined process known as the assembly line was used to produce the now legendary Model T. It would prove to be the automobile available to the masses.
