Vinyl InteriorFor sale in our Atlanta Showroom is a 1969 AMC AMX. The AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation from 1968 to 1970. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but differed from other American cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The name AMX is actually an acronym for American Motors eXperimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties. The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird, and rivaled the only other two-seat American muscle car: the Chevrolet Corvette. With a short three-year production run, the AMX was discontinued in 1970, and was replaced by the Javelin from '71-'74. This classic AMX makes quite the statement with the Metallic Blue covering the cool and vintage bodylines and the silver racing stripes that continue the muscle car look. Under the hood of this beautiful car is the date code correct 390 V8 that has been meticulously maintained with just over 10,000 miles on the rebuild and produces a loud rumble that will turn some heads every time the pedal hits the floor. The transmission is a 4-speed manual that shifts smooth throughout all gears. This AMX has had the same owner for 23 years and has been used as just a fair weather weekend cruiser since the rebuild in 1997.
