Vinyl InteriorGateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud to present this rare 1941 Willys Americar Deluxe. Only the 1940-1942 models were called "Americar", following the patriotic trend of the time. It sold 22,000 units in 1941 and 7,000 more in 1942. Its price was about US $630. As war broke out, civilian production was abandoned by all US motor companies, in order to assist the military, and the Americar was no exception. Powering this Willys Americar Deluxe is a 318ci borrowed from a 78' Dodge D150 that has been rebuilt. The engine received 360 Heads, RV Cam, and an Edelbrock intake with a 550 CFM AFB Carter Carb. The front clip came out of a 72' Dodge Charger and fits well. The rear end is a 8 3/4 ‘' 355 Sure-Grip Posi from a 69 Dart. The transmission is a 727 Torque-Flite automatic that was rebuilt with the car build and used Kevlar bands and clutches. The car also uses a Painless Wiring Harness.
