Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud to present this 1965 Buick Riviera. The Buick Riviera is a personal luxury car that was marketed by Buick from 1963 to 1999, except for the 1994 model year. As General Motors' first entry into the personal luxury car market segment, the Riviera was highly praised by automotive journalists upon its high-profile debut. It was a ground-up design on a new GM E platform debuting for the 1963 model year and was also Buick's first unique Riviera model. Unlike its subsequent GM E platform stablemates, the Oldsmobile Toronado and Cadillac Eldorado, the Riviera was initially a front engine/rear-wheel drive platform, switching to front-wheel drive starting with the 1979 model year. While the early models stayed close to their original form, eight subsequent generations varied substantially in size and styling. A total of 1,127,261 Rivieras were produced. Buick's 325 hp (242 kW) 401 cu in (6.6 l) "Nailhead" V-8 was initially the only available engine, fitted with dual exhaust as standard equipment, and the turbine drive the only transmission. Consignor states this 401 Cubic Inch V8 has had 460 miles on it since the rebuild was completed. Backing this 401 V8 is a Turbo 400 ( TH400) 3-Speed automatic transmission. The rear end is stated to be a posi-traction rear end with 3.23 gears. Consignor states he is the third owner and has had the vehicle 10+ years. Owner states the car was taken down to bare metal and was repainted by Then and Now in Woodstock Georgia. During the engine rebuild consignor states the engine was bored .060 over with a mild cam, consignor also states that the TH400 Transmission has a mild shift kit.
