Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud to present this right-hand drive 1974 Volkswagen Thing. The Thing is widely considered to be easy to repair and indestructible. While the memories of the Thing in Germany are more related to the armed forces or community service, the angular convertible with the tent roof has always been the practical alternative to the buggy for the Americans. Like the Bug, the VW Thing had the engine mounted in the rear, so the primary function of the front end of the car, besides carrying the spare tire and the gas tank, was serving as a trunk. On top of mounting the same 46 HP four-cylinder as the Bug, this car of military roots shared other elements such as the transmission, suspension, and chassis. Although it was not a four-wheel-drive vehicle or classified as a buggy, its personality led to it being classified as an off-road vehicle. It's easy to take off all four doors in minutes, throw back the PVC convertible top, fold down the front windshield, and have an instant Dune Buggy on your hands. Finished in Sunshine Yellow with a Brown and Black Interior. if you're ready to throw on some beach boys and throw your surfboard in the back, don't hesitate to call and add this Thing to your Collection.
