After the introduction of the Corvette in 1953 the fine folks at Ford realized the need for a sporty little roadster and the Thunderbird was born. Though the Corvette was marketed as more of a "sports car," the Thunderbird flew onto the scene as a personal luxury car and delivered style, convenience and comfort and became an icon of American automotive history.
