Vinyl InteriorFor sale in our Chicago showroom is this awesome 1989 Ford Low Tilt C8000, Firetruck. In the late 1950s Ford began producing one of the longest running medium-duty cab-over engine truck lines, the C-Series. Production ran from 1957 all the way through 1990.
The C-Series was the longest-produced commercial truck in North America at the time it ceased production, running for 33 years, and it still holds high ranks with currently being the third longest-produced.
Powered by the numbers matching Caterpillar 10.4L Diesel V8 engine, this retired Firetruck spent many years serving American communities and accumulated just over 35,000 miles in doing so.
Being a truck with a very specific purpose in mind, this vehicle does not have many creature comforts. It was, however, produced with safety in mind and equipped with seat belts for each occupant. With this truck being as heavy as it is, utilizing power steering and power (air) brakes allows it to drive quite gracefully.
Finished in a bright, clean Fire Engine Red exterior, this truck shines like the diamond it is. The inside cab and rear reversed seats are all finished in a black vinyl that was designed, and has proven to hold up to the many years of seeing abuse due to its occupants taking emergency action.
This truck is a very nice salute to our first responders, and deserves to be enjoyed for the rest of its retirement.
