Hub CapsFor sale in our Chicago showroom is this unique 1951 Chevrolet Halfton. Originally used as a firetruck, somewhere along the line the back ¾ of the truck was removed and replaced with a flat bed and ramps to allow for the transportation of disabled or prized vehicles. Powering this custom hauler is a 235 Stovebolt-6 paired to a 4-speed manual transmission. While not exactly a powerhouse, steep gearing in this mammoth machine allows for a smooth start from a stop, even on an incline! The original bench unfortunately did not stand the test of time, so a replacement was covered in cloth and vinyl and set in place to keep the driver comfortable for any length of time.
While the paint is now a matte black, some of the original red peeks through on the underside and in the engine bay. Custom pinstriping was carefully placed accenting certain parts of the truck without seeming cluttered. The seller of the vehicle regularly used the Chevy for parades, as well as parked in front of his business to draw in potential customers. While parked outside, the truck has aged into an incredible authentic patina look. As a leftover from its firefighting days, a massive siren hides under the hood, ready to draw all sorts of attention! The seller of the vehicle has asked us to mention that while this vehicle is set up to tow vehicles, it is advised not to be used as such, as the D-rings are not anchored heavily enough into the chassis.
