The Lexus IS started in Japan, badged and named the Toyota Altezza and was only available in Japan in 1998. A year later Europe got the Lexus IS 200 and in 2000 North America finally got their hands on the 2001 Lexus IS 300, and boy was it a hit! With the 3.0L DOHC in-line 6 with Continuously Variable Valve Timing otherwise know as VVT-i. The engine is rated at 215 Horsepower and 218 ft-lb of Torque. This is paired to a five-speed automatic Electronically controlled transmission with intelligence. To make the car a little more fun to drive it has E-shift steering wheel mounted shift buttons to get the perfectly timed shift while cruising in this great handling car, and to help it get traction it has a limited slip differential. Inside the car is a black leather and Ecsaine interior with brushed aluminum interior trim and a chrome shift knob. The front seats are heated and the sound system has 8 speakers located all around the cab for great audio. The Diamond white Pearl paint is the perfect combo with this interior. Hop inside fire it up crank the A/C and cruise in one of the truly finest handling machines we have seen. All of this sits atop 17-inch 5-spoke Lexus rims.
