1969 AMC AMX For Sale in Chicago. The AMC AMX is a two-seat GT in style and approach sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation for the 1968 through 1970 model years. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but "unique among other American cars at the time due its short wheelbase". The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird . To a degree, the AMX was a competitor with America's only other two-seater of the era, the Chevrolet Corvette for substantially less money. With a one-inch shorter wheelbase than the Chevrolet's 2-seater, "the AMX was often seen by the press as a Corvette competitor." This AMX has the 315 horsepower 390 CID 4brl engine, backed by a 4 speed manual transmission. The mileage on the odometer is 46,220, but is undocumented. This an awesome running vehicle! Options on this AMC are reclining bucket seats, aftermarket AM/FM stereo, power disc brakes and steering, working factory clock, 140 speedometer, tachometer with temperature gauge, dual chrome side view mirrors, headers with dual exhaust, space saver spare with inflator canister, American Racing wheels with radial Redline tires, wood simulated steering wheel, and aftermarket JVC rear speakers. The Red paint has a custom stripe with a slight bluish metal flake on the top sides of car. They only made 3,690 390 4speed Amx's in 1969. All this car needs is a driver! This 1969 AMC AMX can be seen at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, and is located in our Chicagoland Showroom, which can be reached at 708 444 4488.
