Now, 60 horsepower doesn’t seem like a lot, but when the car weighs about 1800 pounds, it doesn’t take much for it to get moving. Options on the 1978 Volkswagen Beetle for sale include: AM/FM radio, manual convertible top, seat belts, and vinyl interior. The clutch, steering rack, oil pump, muffler, brakes, hoses, and fuel lines have been recently replaced. The Beetle continued to be sold in the United States until 1978 with the convertible version was sold until early 1980. Fortunately, the famous VW quality remained to the end by which time only the cabriolet was offered in the U.S. It was the end of an era for one of the most iconic cars ever produced. Produced from 1938 til June of 2003 with sales just over 30,000 that year, it came to an end. Revived in 2011 with a retro look, the demand is still present and everyone still knows what car it is when they see it.
