For sale in our Chicago showroom is a 1946 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible. Ford introduced a brand new style for the first ford available since 1942 and was an immediate success. The slogan for 1946 was “There is a Ford in your future” and this vehicle still has some of the original literature and manual with this tag line. The very first 1946 Ford was delivered to President Harry Truman and when you see the quality of construction on this car you can see how it is fit for a president. This ’46 comes to us from a notable Ford collector who has had this car in his personal collection for over 30 years. The car has been driven in several tours over the years and is in remarkable mechanical condition. The power convertible top operates just as it should and even the AM tube radio powers up. The 59A 239.4 Cubic Inch Flathead V8 produces 100 horsepower and is whisper quiet. This engine was recently rebuilt by a Flathead specialist and has been balanced and features a high pressure oil pump. It is mated to a 3 Speed column shift transmission and 3:73 rear end which allow this car to cruise at highway speeds. Take a peek at our video and you will see for yourself how nice and smooth this car runs. The rebuilt suspension and shocks provide superior ride and handling. The steering is so smooth you would think it was power and the new brakes stop this classic Ford nice and evenly. The chrome shines nice and the newer interior is finished in the original styled tweed upholstery with Mohair door panels. The wood grained dash adds the perfect back drop for the black over red gauges that all function as they should.
