For sale in our Chicago showroom is this 1970 Pontiac Trans Am Clone. An all new Pontiac Firebird was introduced for 1970 and represented a new high for Pontiac styling. The front bumper and grille were molded out of Endura rubber and were painted the same color as the car to give it a bumperless appearance. The sides sported rounded full wheel cut outs without any extra trim (the Camaro had more squared off wheel cut outs). The suspension was revised and a rear stabilizer bar was added. The Firebird lineup was reduced from six to four, and the convertible was eliminated. At the top was the Trans Am, which was fitted with air dams across the bottom of the front and in front of the wheels. A large decklid spoiler and small spoilers in front of the rear wheels completed the package. These aero pieces were claimed to generate 50 pounds of downforce on the front and rear of the car at highway speeds. The Trans Am featured one of the best tuned suspensions of any car (including the Corvette) and its European styling gave it instant class. The Trans Am was now available in either Polar White or Lucent Blue, with contrasting stripes, a relatively modest bird stencil at the tip of the nose, and the words "Trans Am" across the rear spoiler. Powering this Bird is a freshly rebuilt 400 with only 360 miles. This power is routed through a 4-speed manual transmission. Putting the rubber to the pavement is a Posi rear end with 3.73 gears. This Pontiac has had a full frame-off restoration. The exterior is covered in a Polar White paint, with Lucent Blue stripes. Venture into the inside of this Pontiac, and with just one glance you can see the detail given to this new interior. What you're not seeing is the extreme detail that has gone into it: stainless steel seat springs were used and the seat frames were even powder coated. The whole thing was sprayed with sound insulation as well. While sitting inside the car you will notice attention to detail was taken. In 1970 on the inside, complete instrumentation, including a tach turned on its side to red line at 12 o'clock just like a race car, completed the performance image. Climb back out and pop the hood and trunk, you can see that even the retro decals have been meticulously placed. The phrase, "you can eat off it" was created for this ride. The engine compartment and underside of this beauty is unbelievably clean. The underside was even painted the same color of the body. All parts have been thoroughly painted, plated, or powder coated. Coil over front shocks, Ram Air exhaust, dual Flowmaster mufflers, and stainless steel tips round out the underside. BF Goodrich Radial T/A's wrap the nostalgic, honeycomb wheels. Options include: air-conditioning, AM/FM radio, power brakes, power steering, tilt wheel, seat belts, vinyl interior, radial tires, raised white letters, and rally wheels. Don't let this one pass you by. It's not all show, there is much go and it can be yours with one phone call!!!
