This red over black beauty is a great example of when the Chevrolet line was on top of its game and was creating cars that were considered to be “Junior Cadillacsâ€. In 1965 General Motors began promoting the Impalas wide stance design that carried on throughout the fourth generation designs. By 1968 the memorable style of that era was in full swing and it shows on this classic with the semi-fastback styled roofline, ample chrome and stainless trim and horseshoe-shaped taillights. The red over black color combination really makes this coupe a show stopper. This Chevy has a 396 Cubic Inch Turbo-Jet V8 delivering 325 Horsepower and is backed by a 4 Speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter leading back to the 3:31 Positraction 10 bolt rear end. The 396 Turbo-Jet was the first engine manufactured by General Motors to receive a Rochester 4 barrell Quadrajet Carburetor which remained in use until the 1980’s. Options on this red beauty include AM radio, power steering, tilt wheel, seat belts, working clock, tachometer, vinyl bucket seats, Hurst shifter, red line radial tires and rally wheels. Many new parts have been replaced on this Impala including new tires, shocks, springs, emergency brake cable, exhaust system, chrome sill plates, headliner and carpeting. One quick turn of the in dash ignition and that 396 comes purring to life and is ready to get up and growl.
