For sale in our Chicago showroom is a rare 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC. Mercedes has always had a reputation for luxury and finely engineered cars and the 560 SEC was the zenith of the line. In 1991 when domestic vehicles were just starting to have airbags Mercedes had already had them for 10 years. The W126 Line was also the first production car to include seat belt pre-tensioners for added safety and also included traction control and anti-lock brakes. One thing that really stands out is the addition of the wipers on the headlamps and the large Mercedes 3-star emblem. This full size 2-door delivers style, comfort and performance and has a very solid ride that Mercedes is known for.

This particular vehicle is a very nice example of a car that originally sold for between $68,000 to $80,000 when new over 20 years ago. As you open the heavy German steel door you are greeted by an interior that rivals that of many modern American cars. Options such as automatic seat belt holders, electrically controlled tilt steering, power sunroof and power heated driver and passenger seat with memory and power adjustable head rests. The amount of technology and innovation that went into this "S"class is astounding even by modern standards. This car is a very well preserved example of an awesome driving machine. Having traveled less than 55,000 miles from new this cream puff is ready to carry its next owner in luxury and timeless style. The 5.6 Liter V8 purrs to life with the turn of the key and gets this full size machine up to highway speed and gets this 3,500 pound car up to highway speed without hesitation. The 4-speed automatic transmission was another technological wonder as it featured The Hypopneumatic self leveling suspension uses nitrogen ballasts to adjust the rear suspension. A topographical sensor automatically measured the cars position on incline and decline along with the position of the gas pedal and allowed the car to maintain position on a decline without having your foot on the brake...pretty clever huh?

It's very easy to see how this car sold for the equivalent of well over $100,000 in 1991 as it was such a technological and mechanical wonder. Still most systems proved very reliable and many of these vehicles are still on the road today running well after 200,000 miles. This car has plenty of life left and can be purchased at just a fraction of the cost of anything similar available as a new vehicle. Edmunds and other noteworthy sites praise this car for its ride, performance and overall quality of build. This 560SEC is built like a tank and rides like a dream. A very high end touch screen Alpine stereo with CD Changer has replaced the original stereo that is included with the sale along with the original tail lights.
